ABOUT ANITTA:

Larissa de Macedo Machado, known as Anitta, has become one of Brazil’s brightest pop stars in Latin music and beyond. By proudly singing in Portuguese, Spanish and English, she has helped Brazilian culture reach a global audience. The eight-time Latin GRAMMY® nominee made history earlier this year when her Spanish-language single “Envolver” topped the Global Top 50 chart on Spotify, making Anitta the first Brazilian singer and the first solo Latin artist to do so. She is nearing a decade since she signed with Warner Music Brazil to release her self-titled debut album. With her breakthrough album, 2015’s Bang, she established herself as one of Brazil’s top artists. In 2017, she made her Spanish-language debut with “Paradinha” and later “Downtown” with J Balvin. Anitta has since gone on to collaborate with artists around the world like Cardi B, Maluma, Major Lazer, Alesso, Iggy Azalea and Nile Rodgers, amongst others. She extended her reach beyond Brazil with the trilingual album Kisses in 2019. This year’s Versions of Me album has made her a global star.

MIAMI (NOVEMBER 8, 2024) — The Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation®, in partnership with Latin GRAMMY® and GRAMMY®-winning artist and 2024 Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year™ Carlos Vives, hosted an educational experience that included the donation of musical instruments at Miami Senior High School in South Florida.

The event, presented in partnership with Miami-Dade County and the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB), marks the 42nd time that the Foundation hosts a Latin GRAMMY In The Schools™ program. It featured opening remarks from the Mayor of Miami-Dade County, Daniella Levine Cava, a musical tribute from the students who performed “La Gota Fría” in honor of Vives, and a Q&A session with the artist moderated by renowned journalist Lili Estefan, co-host of Univision’s El Gordo y La Flaca.

The band program proudly associated with Miami Senior High School—which was established in 1903 and is the oldest high school in Miami-Dade County—stands as a beacon of musical excellence and cultural representation. With a rich history deeply rooted in the community, the band has captivated audiences across borders, performing in countries such as Canada, Mexico, Venezuela, Cuba, and throughout Europe, as well as all across the United States.

In addition, Dollar Tree and Family Dollar joined the celebration as Official Sponsors, with added support from the Cornelia T. Bailey Foundation. Further support was provided by Sony Music Group’s Beyond the Instrument initiative, a grant dedicated to accelerating equity and access to cutting-edge music technology education for students in high-need schools, located in historically excluded communities.

“The instruments we received will not only enhance our students’ musical experience but also open doors for creativity, collaboration and personal growth,” said Santiago Hernández, Band Director of Miami Senior High School. “Each instrument represents a new opportunity for our young musicians to express themselves, develop their talents, and create beautiful music that resonates beyond the classroom.”

“We are incredibly grateful to Carlos Vives for joining us as we celebrate another successful Latin GRAMMY In The Schools program with the talented students of Miami Senior High School,” said Raquel “Rocky” Egusquiza, Executive Director of the Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation. “And, of course, none of this would be possible without the generous support of our sponsors, as we continue to advance our mission of expanding access and opportunities for the next generation of Latin music creators.”

Since its inception, the Latin GRAMMY In The Schools program has benefited schools in U.S. cities such as Aransas Pass, Dallas, Detroit, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, New York, and San Antonio; as well as internationally in Buenos Aires, Argentina; Mexico City, Mexico; Arecibo, Humacao, Yauco and San Juan in Puerto Rico; and Seville, Spain.

Latin GRAMMY In The Schools is an educational program that informs and connects music students with professionals in the Latin music industry and supports educational music departments that have financial limitations. The Foundation invites artists and professional musicians to visit middle and high schools or music education institutions to share their personal stories and experiences with students that highlight the effort it takes to overcome career obstacles. The goal is for students to learn to optimize the educational opportunities presented to them, giving them an advantage and strong academic preparation to be able to compete in the music industry.

MIAMI (NOVEMBER 7, 2024) — The Latin Recording Academy® announced that Enrique "Kike" Congrains has been selected as the official artist of the 25th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards®.

Congrains—who specializes in collage art—based the colorful work on the concept of physical media, incorporating CDs and cassettes to evoke the evolution of music in honor of the 25th anniversary of the Latin GRAMMYs®.

"There is a nostalgia that I wanted to apply in this collage," said Congrains, who meticulously cut out each piece, glued it to a canvas, and carefully constructed shadows and three-dimensional layers that, as he notes, provide the "spice" of his masterful work. "I drew inspiration from the fact that the Latin GRAMMYs represent [and recognize] Latinos," he added, "and the awards were created under physical media parameters."

Born in Lima and currently based in Spain, Congrains has shown his work in exhibitions in Peru, as well as Argentina, Spain, England, Hong Kong and Norway at the Scandinavian Collage Museum. He’s the curator of CollageWave and founder of Collage Academy, a platform for collage learning and research. He also teaches collage workshops to underprivileged kids and is currently writing a book on Latin American collage.

"The evolution of Latin music over the past 25 years parallels the growth of the Latin GRAMMYs, which have propelled a diversity of creators and genres to become a global cultural phenomenon," said Manuel Abud, CEO of The Latin Recording Academy. "Kike’s collage reminds us of the intrinsic connection between music and the visual arts, and we are extremely honored for his contribution to celebrate this special anniversary."

Since 2001, The Latin Recording Academy has selected a Spanish or Portuguese language-speaking visual artist to visually convey the importance of music in Latin culture, bridging the gap between these two art forms. Congrains becomes the 25th visual artist to do so, joining a long-standing tradition shaped by internationally acclaimed visual artists.

As part of the 25th anniversary of the Latin GRAMMYs, The Latin Recording Academy recently announced a series of exhibits throughout 2024: at The Paley Museum in New York City, the GRAMMY Museum® in Los Angeles, and the Gary Nader Art Centre in Miami.

Congrains’ artwork is currently on display at the Gary Nader Art Centre in a first-of-its-kind exhibit of 25 years of Latin GRAMMY® official art, featuring original paintings by renowned artists including Romero Britto, Walter Goldfarb, Michael V. Rios—who also designed the cover of Carlos Santana’s multi-GRAMMY®-winning album Supernatural—and Patssi Valdez, among others. From mixed media to collage, murals and oil paintings, the collection includes renowned visual artists from several countries.

The GRAMMY Museum will also host a Family Free Day on November 9 in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Latin GRAMMYs. The event, sponsored by Intocable, will provide free entry for families to explore the Museum’s exhibits with panels and performances throughout the day.

The 25th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards will air live from the Kaseya Center in Miami on Thursday, Nov. 14. The three-hour telecast will be produced by TelevisaUnivision, the leading Spanish language media and content company in the world, and will air live on Univision, UniMás, Galavisión and ViX beginning at 8 p.m. ET/PT (7 p.m. Central). Preceding the telecast will be the Latin GRAMMY Premiere® ceremony, a long-established evening full of unforgettable performances and heartfelt acceptance speeches, where the winners in most categories will be announced.
